Also, does a fetus (or baby, whatever) have conscious thought? There's a part where Edward could hear the thought of the baby inside Bella, and I was just thinking, "Can an unborn baby form coherent thoughts, or is that just its emotions? Does this mean Edward can read emotions too? Do emotions count as thoughts? I'm completely lost."
